Privacy Policy
How we handle your information when you use TagsCord. We aim to collect as little as we need, and we never sell your data.
Last updated June 14, 2026
01Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information TagsCord (“we”, “us”) collects, why, and what you can do about it. We try to collect as little as we need to run the directory.
The short version: you sign in with Discord, we store your basic Discord profile and the activity you create on TagsCord, we use one essential cookie to keep you signed in, and we use privacy-conscious analytics and error monitoring to understand and improve the Service. We do not sell your data or run third-party advertising.
02Information we collect
From Discord when you sign in
- Your Discord user ID, username, and avatar, and your email address (if Discord provides none, we generate a placeholder address so your account can function);
- OAuth tokens from Discord, which let us read the list of servers you own or can manage so we can show you which ones you can add the bot to. We request the
identify,email, andguildsscopes only.
Automatically, when you use the Service
- Your IP address and browser user-agent, stored with your sign-in sessions to keep your account secure and detect abuse;
- Timestamps for the records we keep (for example, when you signed in or upvoted).
Activity you create on TagsCord
- Upvotes (your Discord ID, which server, and when), so we can enforce the one-vote-per-member cooldown and expire votes over time;
- Servers you add, ownership claims you make, and reports you submit.
Public Discord server data
For listed servers we store and display publicly available guild information such as name, description, icon, banner, approximate member count, invite or vanity URL, and profile tag. This is server information, not your personal data, and it is shown publicly in the directory.
04Analytics and error monitoring
To understand how people use TagsCord and to keep it reliable, we use a small number of privacy-conscious third-party tools. They receive data through our own domain, and we never use them for advertising.
Product analytics
Our analytics provider helps us see which pages and features are used so we can improve them. It records events such as the pages you view and the elements you interact with, together with technical details like your browser, device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Browsing is anonymous by default and is linked to your account only after you sign in. It also captures session replays, which reconstruct your interactions with the site (such as clicks and navigation) so we can diagnose problems; text you type into forms and other sensitive inputs are masked.
Error and performance monitoring
When something goes wrong, our error monitoring records the error and the technical context around it, including the page, your browser and device, your IP address, and, if you are signed in, your account identifier. We use this solely to find, diagnose, and fix bugs and performance issues.
These providers act as our processors, may process data in the United States, and handle it under their own privacy policies. You can limit this collection with browser privacy settings or extensions that block analytics.
05How we use your information
- To authenticate you and keep you signed in;
- To show you the servers you can add the bot to, using the Discord
guildsscope; - To operate listings, upvotes, ownership claims, and reports, and to enforce the upvote cooldown by Discord ID;
- To understand how the Service is used and improve it, and to find, diagnose, and fix errors and performance issues;
- To secure the Service and prevent fraud and abuse; and
- To comply with legal obligations.
06Our Discord bot
When you add our bot to a server, it reads that server’s publicly available information and creates an invite for the listing. It uses the minimum Discord access it needs, does not read your message content, and reports to us only that it is present in the server (so the listing stays current). You can remove the bot at any time.
08Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Session data, including IP address and user-agent, is retained for a limited period for security and then expires. Upvotes expire automatically as part of how the ranking works. When information is no longer needed, or when you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize it, except where we must keep it to comply with the law or resolve disputes.
09Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the use of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. Residents of the EEA, the UK, and similar regions have these rights under applicable law.
You can disconnect TagsCord from your Discord account at any time in your Discord settings. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@tagscord.com. We may need to verify your identity before we act on a request.
10Data security
We protect your information with measures such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), scoped access tokens, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11Children
TagsCord is not directed to children. You must meet Discord’s minimum age in your country, and be at least 13, to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
12Third-party links and servers
The directory links out to Discord servers and other third-party sites we do not control. This policy does not cover their practices, and we are not responsible for them. Review the privacy policies of any service you visit.
13Changes and contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
